Possum Kingdom Lake is the “hidden gem” of Texas that offers something for everyone! Whether you are looking to take your RV out on the open roads, enjoy the natural beauty of the area, or want to experience glamping in cabins, Possum Kingdom Lake has an option for every traveler! Here are the top camping spots in Possum Kingdom and why they’re a “can’t miss” for those who love the great outdoors.
ROCK CREEK CAMP AND RV RESORT
One of Possum Kingdom Lake’s unique camping options, Rock Creek Camp offers cabins, RV, and tent camping sites overlooking the beautiful lake. Tourists love staying at Rock Creek Camp because it is centrally located between Cliffs Championship Golf Course and Graham where you can enjoy a day of shopping in a quaint downtown environment.
Diane Wallace recently took ownership of Rock Creek Camp and immediately got to work updating the resort which opened in the 1940s. The cabins, bath house, and reunion hall have all been renovated.
The camping resort resides on 30 acres of waterfront land, and includes 13 short-term RV slots and 16 cabins.
You will know you’ve made it to the resort when you see the oversized American Flag, proudly displayed in front of the property, which Wallace added once she took ownership. In addition to the flag and renovations, Rock Creek Camp now features additional security lighting and a double-sided digital sign. She plans to keep improving the property by adding a pavilion on the water for events, bands, and weddings, an on-site store, and swimming pool.

POSSUM HOLLOW CAMP
Is there any better way to start off your weekend getaway in Possum Kingdom than seeing a possum poking its head out of a tree? This is one of the many possum sightings you will see when you stay at Possum Hollow Camp, which starts by planning your trip on their website.
Possum Hollow Camp offers RV, cabin, and tent camping sites. The camp and resort site has been around for over 30 years and is situated on 14 acres of land for guests to enjoy while staying at the campground. The campground offers 22 cabins, 29 RV slots, and 16 boat slips available for rent – with an additional 6 courtesy slips for easy access to the on-site restaurant for guests out on the water. Be sure to stop into the restaurant on Saturday night to enjoy a prime rib and lobster dinner while taking in the entertainment of Howard Lee – a local favorite.
Possum Hollow has been owned by Mike McNallen since 1979. Mike knows how important it is to keep these campgrounds up to par. Over the years he has renovated the cabins and added 50 camp spaces to the RV park to accommodate the larger busses many guests own today.

For those who love spending time outdoors, but prefer indoor sleeping arrangements, Fox Hollow has 11 cabins available for rent, ranging from 1-3 bedrooms and large decks, so grab your favorite beverage and get ready to enjoy a sunrise or sunset by simply walking out the door.
The beauty of Fox Hollow Resort is the location! You’re a short distance away from Lake Bridgeport and Possum Kingdom State Park, and only 20 minutes down Highway 377 to Graham where you can enjoy all that downtown has to offer.
The resort is owned by Hank and Jennifer Erler, who took ownership of the property in January of 2021. Throughout the year the couple has been hard at work updating the property to help guests create memories with their friends and families.
Upgrades include boat slips, which are available to rent, and provide easy access to the Hungry Fox Restaurant and Foxy’s Cantina. Hungry Fox Restaurant is now open for breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays in addition to weekdays. P0SSUM KINGDOM STATE PARK
For many, when it comes to camping, staying at a local resort in a cabin or RV is as close to ‘roughing it’ as it gets, but for others, there’s nothing like setting up a tent and spending time getting back to nature.
Possum Kingdom State Park offers the perfect camping experience for those who enjoy a more rugged stay. With 124 campsites broken up into four sections, you’ll have plenty of room to set up your tent or RV and make new memories with friends and family while exploring all that Possum Kingdom has to offer including swimming, boating, fishing, water skiing, scuba diving, snorkeling, hiking, biking, studying nature, and geocaching. Also, I don’t want to forget to mention that you can also learn a bit of history as the park has a central location on the Trail of Tears.
The state park has 7 cabins available for rent, and one lodge which sleeps 8. There are 115 RV slots, 60 of which have water and electricity; however, none provide sewer hookups. There are also 10 primitive walk-in spots for tents and five bathhouses, including four with showers.
