Can you believe it is time again already for the annual Possum Kingdom Mardi Gras Event? It is always a highly anticipated event around the lake!
I love getting to see everyone all decked out in their festive beads, necklaces, hats, and mask, and enjoying themselves at the Possum Kingdom Chamber of Commerce parade and festival. This year, the fun takes place on March 7, 2020 starting at 3 PM with the annual parade followed by an all-you-can-eat Shrimp Fest Dinner and live music from the Pat Mason and Bayou Boogie.
Just like years past, the parade route starts at the Main Public Boat Ramp (#3) and will end at the Auxiliary Club on Villa Road. Participate in the parade is free but you will need to register your entry. If you are participating in the 2020 Mardi Grad Parade, you’ll need to be lined up by 2:15 PM. Prizes will be given to the top three floats both in individual and business categories, and the winners will be announced at the shrimp dinner.
The chamber will have beads, candy and other ‘G’ rated items available for sale for you to throw from your float during the parade. These items are available now, so be sure to stop by and grab yours. Since this is a family-friendly event, keep in mind that the BRA will give tickets to anyone with open containers at the parade.
Every year, the Possum Kingdom Mardi Gras celebration is one of the most anticipated events of the year. Locals enjoy coming out to showcase their businesses and loyalty to Possum Kingdom Lake! It is a great opportunity meet some of the full-time residents of the lake and celebrate the beginning of the lake season. This event is the kick-off event of the year that signifies spring is nearly here, and all the spring related activities are just around the corner.
So, if you haven’t already made plans to attend the 2020 Mardi Gras Parade and Shrimp Fest, be sure to add it to your calendar. Tickets to attend can be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce office.
