Holiday Activities in the Dallas-Fort Worth Area
The holidays are the perfect time to bond with family through exciting activities. If you’re in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, you’re in luck! There are tons of family-friendly holiday events that you can enjoy here! Whether you’re bringing the kiddos, tweens, or teens, there’s something for everyone when you explore the following holiday activities in DFW:
Dallas Zoo Lights
The Dallas Zoo is known for its mile-long route which features lots of animals that can catch your kids’ attention. This year, it continues its holiday tradition of providing a lightshow — but with a twist! In compliance with social distancing, Dallas Zoo Lights is now a drive-thru event where families can enjoy the million twinkling lights display along with other elaborate holiday-themed exhibits — all from the safety and comfort of their vehicle. Huge animal lanterns, 3D lighted sculptures, and other dazzling displays are also present.
A new feature added this year is the immersive video projection mapping that transforms select areas along the route. At the end of the path is a bigger and brighter Reliant Holiday Village that you and your family can marvel at!
When: November 19, 2021 to January 2, 2022
Photos With Cowboy Santa at the Fort Worth Stockyards
The Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District is famous for embodying America’s Western heritage and for having the world’s only twice-daily cattle drive. If you and your family have ever wondered what Cowboy Santa would look like, then this is the place to be as you can take a photo with the Stockyards’ very own Cowboy Santa!
You and your family can explore the Stockyards or delight in its sights and sounds while waiting in line for the photo-op. If you want to skip the line, you can also book an appointment to reserve a slot.
When: December 9 to 12 and December 15 to 24, 2021
Crafts and Letters to Santa on the GeO-Deck at Reunion Tower in Dallas
If you’re not afraid of heights, you can take your family to the GeO-Deck at Reunion Tower for the best view in town! For the holidays, GeO-Deck offers crafting activities that everyone can participate in while being awestruck with a 360-degree view of the Dallas skyline. You and your kids can also enjoy photo-ops, coloring, and making letters for Santa in this open-floor observation deck.

Noon Year’s Eve at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History
To celebrate the new year, the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History has the Noon Year’s Eve event where you can come dressed in your “fancy pants.” Activities for this event include learning about various New Year traditions, learning about the animals of the new year, creating party poppers, and making Noon Year’s Eve resolutions. The best part is that after the event, you can still explore the rest of the museum until closing time!
